Soya Peas Samosa Recipe

Serves: 16-18 Pieces



For Stuffing:

1/2 Cup Green Peas, Boiled

1/2 Teaspoon Roasted Cumin Powder 

1 Cup Soya Granules

1 Teaspoon Coriander Powder 

1 Big Onion, Chopped

1 1/2 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

2 Teaspoon Green Chilies, Chopped

1 Teaspoon Red Chilli Powder or As Needed

1 Teaspoon Ginger, Grated

1 Tablespoon Coriander Leaves, Finely Chopped

1 Teaspoon Garam Masala

1 Tablespoon Oil

Salt to Taste

For Outer Layer:

1 1/2 Cups Wheat Flour

3 Tablespoon Ghee

3/4 Teaspoon Carom Seeds

Salt to Taste

Oil for Deep Frying



Soya Peas Samosa

Preparing the Dough:

  • Mix wheat flour, salt and carom seeds in a bowl.
  • Put ghee and Combine properly to get a breadcrumb like consistency.
  • Knead hard dough by mixing water little by little.
  • Cover the dough with the lid and Set aside for 15 – 30 minutes.

Preparing the Soya Stuffing:

  • Boil the green peas until they are tender and Put aside.
  • Boil enough water with little salt. Turn off the Flame and add the soya granules. Let it soak for 10 minutes.
  • Drain water and Pour with cold water twice to get rid of raw smell of soya granules. Keep aside.
  • Take oil in a pan to heat and Put grated ginger and finely chopped green chilies. Fry for a minute.
  • Then Add onion and sauté till light golden color.
  • Mix the all spices( the turmeric, garam masala, cumin, coriander and red chilli powders) properly.
  • Now put the drained granules, cooked peas and salt and mix well. Sprinkle little water if necessary.
  • Cover with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes. Add coriander leaves and turn off the flame.
  • Finally Mix the lemon juice in it properly. Put it aside to cool.

Preparing & Frying the Samosas:

  • Knead the dough and divide into equal round balls. 
  • Roll each ball into a circle using rolling pin and cut it into 2 equal parts with knife.
  • Using water wet the straight edge. Now make a cone by joining the two edges by overlapping them. Press the edges well.
  • Put the stuffing in the cone. Close it well. and wrap them with a moist kitchen towel
  • Put oil in deep bottomed pan until hot and gently drop 3 – 4 samosas at a time. Turn the flame to low. 
  • Deep-Fry the stuffed samosas till become golden and crisp.
  • Drain in paper towels and serve hot with tea and mint coriander chutney.
