Punjabi Pakoda Kadhi Recipe

Serves: 4 People

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

For the Dumplings (Pakoda):

1 Cup Gram Flour (Besan)

½ Teaspoon Baking Powder

1 Teaspoon Carom Seeds

1 Tablespoon Fresh Coriander Leaves, Finely Chopped

½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder

1 Medium Onion, Halved & Thinly Sliced

½ Teaspoon Mild Chilli Powder

Salt to Taste

Cooking Oil for Deep Frying

 

For the Kadhi :

3 Teaspoon Gram Flour (Besan)

1 ½ Cup Thick Yoghurt

½ Teaspoon Turmeric Powder

2 Cup Water

Salt to Taste

2 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil

Pinch of Asafetida

1 Teaspoon Mustard Seeds

½ Teaspoon Cumin Seeds

2 Dried Chilies

3 Cloves Garlic, Crushed

¼ Teaspoon Ginger, Crushed

1 Teaspoon Fresh Coriander for Garnish

Direction:

Firstly Heat oil in a pan for frying.

Direction for dumplings

In a meanwhile, Take a mixing bowl and Mix all ingredients of dumplings except oil properly. Make a thick batter by adding little by little water. Keep aside.

When Oil is hot enough then put dumplings of batter in oil and deep fry them. Drain pakodas in a paper towel.

Preparaation for Kadhi

Take another bowl, Put gram flour, yoghurt, turmeric powder and salt. Mix properly then add the water and beat well to make smooth mix.

Heat oil in a sauce pan. Put asafetida, mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Wait for crackle it. After Crackling put dried chilies and sauté for 2-3 seconds.

Punjabi Pakoda Kadhi Recipe

Now Mix garlic, ginger in it and cook for 2 minutes on medium flame. Pour in the yoghurt mix and bring to a boil. Stir constantly so it doesn’t stick to the pan. Your kadhi should have a creamy consistency. Cook for 15-20 minutes. Stir it in-between.

Turn off the Flame. Put the fried dumplings and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve Hot with Rice, Butter Kulcha or Roti.
