Ukadiche Modak Recipe

Ingredients For Ukadiche Modak:

For the Outer Overing: 

For the Filling:

1 Cup Rice Flour

1 Cup Fresh Granted Coconuts

1.5 Cups Water

3/4 Cup Powdered Jaggery

1/4 Teaspoon Oil Or Ghee

1/4 Teaspoon Cardamom Powder

A Pinch of Salt

A Pinch of Nutmeg Powder

 

1/2 Teaspoon Poppy Seeds

 

1/2 Teaspoon Ghee

 

1/2 Teaspoon Rice Flour (Optional)

Direction For Ukadiche Modak

  • Take a pan and heat ghee. Put poppy seeds, cardamom and nutmeg powder. stir for a minute.
  • Put powdered jaggery and granted fresh coconut.

  • Mix properly and Cook till the moisture get start to dry. Turn off the gas and keep aside this mixture.

  • Add a water, ghee and salt in a pan and keep it on the gas.

  • Reduce the gas when mixture started to boil.
  • Put rice in this water and quickly stir and mix the flour with water.
  • Turn Off The Gas And Take All Dough In A Plate And Start To Kneed It.

  • If dough is hot then take a water in palm and then kneed it simultaneously.
  • If dough looks like hard then add a little water and kneed properly.

  • Make small balls in this dough and roll it till smooth in your arms.
  • The ball should be smooth and should not have any cracks. Take water in pan and put ob gas before you start shaping modak.
  • Take a ball and spread it with your fingers to a round shape. And place the filling in the center.
  • Come together all the edges and join them. Remove the extra portion of that and give shape of modak with your fingers.
  • Make all modaks and place in steamer pan. Cover with lid and steam for 10 to 15 minutes on low flame.
  • Delicious and tasty Modak is ready.
