Sarson ka Saag with Makke ki Roti – Perfect Punjabi Meal

Serves: 3-4

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:

1 Bunch Mustard Leaves

½ Bunch Spinach Leaves

½ Bunch Bathua Leaves

¼ Bunch Fenugreek Leaves

1 Medium Radish, Chopped

2 Medium Tomatoes, Chopped

2 Cups Water

Salt As Require

1 1/2 Cup Corn Flour

4 Green Chilly, Chopped

Small Piece of Ginger, Chopped

2 Medium Onions, Sliced or Chopped

6 Cloves of Garlic

1 Teaspoon Asafetida

2 Tablespoon Ghee

1/2 Teaspoon Red Pepper Powder

1/2 Teaspoon Garam Masala

1/2 Teaspoon Coriander Powder

Makki ki roti

1/2 Kg Makki Atta

Water for Kneading

Ghee for Frying

Procedure:

Saron ka Saag

Take a deep non-stick pan, Boil the mustard leaves, spinach, bathua, fenugreek leaves, tomatoes and raddish in enough water. Boil on a high flame for 4 to 5 minutes and Stir it occasionaly.

Strain using a strainer and remove excess water. Keep aside for atleast 3-4 Minutes.

Grind it using mixture to Make a smooth paste.

Heat the oil in a non-stick pan. Put garlic, ginger, Green chilly and asafetida and sauté on a medium gas for 30 seconds.

Add the onions and sauté on a medium gas for 1 to 2 minutes.

Put the mustard leaves-spinach smooth paste, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt, Stir well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes.

Sarson ka Saag with Makke ki Roti              

For Makki ki Roti:

Knead the makki atta using little by little water until it becomes a ball, put atta to dry it & again knead.

Put the tava on the heat and add a little ghee so that it does not stick.

Make round shapes of makki roti with the help of rolling pin & transfer to the tava carefully.

Cook with ghee till golden brown.

Serve makki  ki roti with Sarson ka saag to make perfect Punjabi Feast.
